Hummingbird Pediatric Therapies | Multiple Locations

Hey NDFam!

Last week I had the privilege of checking out Hummingbird Pediatric Therapies in Westmont and was blown away by the breadth of their services. They also have locations in Elmhurst, Woodrige and soon, Lisle! Starting at birth through young adulthood Hummingbird has a wide array of services, providers and unique offerings. From therapeutic school programming, innovative PT interventions, beautiful gyms, equine and swim therapy, they truly have it all. Everyone I connected with was warm, welcoming and eager to help. As a bonus my daughter had such a fun time playing in the gym and exploring materials during our visit.

What population(s) do you serve? (Please include age ranges, diagnoses you have experiences and training to work with, specializations etc).

We work with babies directly out of the hospital through young adults in their 20s that would still like therapeutic support. With 3 locations and nearly 90 therapists, we have the breadth and depth to have worked with a kids of varying diagnoses and abilities. We see the able, not the label and really just focus on our mission of helping kids reach their next goal or milestone.

If you are providing a professional service, what are your qualifications (degrees, trainings, licenses, certifications etc.)

All of our therapists have at least master's level training, with many also holding doctoral degrees. All of our therapists must register and maintain licensure with their appropriate professional associations as well. Many also hold their ASDCS.

What makes your practice/services neuroaffirming?

Hummingbird is a play-based, neuro-affirming clinic. We believe that play is the most powerful tool for learning and development. Our play-based therapy approach is designed to create a fun, engaging, and motivating environment for children to develop essential skills. Unlike other methods, which often focus on structured and repetitive tasks to reinforce desired behaviors, play-based therapy integrates therapeutic goals into natural interactions. We do not offer ABA services. We focus on supporting and including families throughout the therapy process.

We take BCBS PPO, AETNA (filed as out-of-network directly) and can help with getting gap coverage through United Healthcare. We can also provide you with a super bill to submit to other insurances.

It just varies on the specialty and service you need. Most can begin day-time services within the week.
